What packet capture sources does inSSIDer Hero support?

Our favorite packet capture adapter is the Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless AC1200 Adapter. This adapter is priced reasonably and seems to work very well.

You should be able to find the adapter online. We found a couple of places you can buy it from (make sure to select the AC1200 Adatper):

inSSIDer Hero is also compatible with the following devices but they have not been as thoroughly tested as our favorite adapter:

  • ASUS USB-AC68 *
  • ALFA Network AWUS1900 *
  • EnGenius EUB1200AC
  • D-Link DWA-182 rev C1
  • D-Link DWA-192 *
  • TRENDnet TEW-805UB
  • TP-LINK Archer T4U v2
  • TP-LINK Archer T4UH v2
  • Edimax EW-7822UAC
  • Edimax EW-7833UAC *
  • Comfast CF-912AC usb 3.0 802.11ac
  • Proxim ORiNOCO 9100

* Supports 3x3 spatial streams but also incorrectly reports some data rates

HAve you tested the Proxim ORiNOCO 9100-USB?

It is also using the RealTek 11ac chipset.

We have not tested that device but it should be compatible based on the chipset.

If you already own that device, I can send you a trial key for Eye P.A. which uses the same packet capture technology as inSSIDer Hero.

I have found that the comfast CF-912AC usb 3.0 802.11ac adapter also works. It is based around the realtek RTL8812AU chipset

Thanks for letting us know Alan! I will add that adapter to this list

Hi Vanessa.
We bought EyePA and the Proxim dongles are compatible for 2 stream traffic.

Hi Glen,

Thank you for letting me know! I have added the Proxim adapter to our list.
