A year into the pandemic, thousands of students still can't get reliable WiFi

Though some schools are starting to open up to in-person learning again, virtual learning isn’t going away for the long haul. Members of the MetaGeek Community will have known about this for a long time since we’re already techy people, but geez, nothing like a pandemic to put into stark relief just how sharp the digital divide is.

According to the article, “11 of the 25 largest districts in the U.S. were still distributing devices or internet to students or could not define the extent of lingering connectivity needs” as of a December report.

I’m hoping that these students aren’t suffering in vain, and that this will light a fire under FCC to bridge the gap in broadband access for students across America.
