Crushing the Coronavirus at MetaGeek

MetaGeek is a small business. There are 12 of us–Alison, Brian, Casey, Cole, Kelly, Lael, Marcus, Matthew, Nabil, Rich, Ryan and Vanessa–and normally we enjoy working together in our small office in downtown Boise, Idaho. As it has for many small businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on our company.

As we watched the virus sweep across the country, closing schools and businesses and overwhelming hospitals, we felt powerless. We wanted to do something to help, but what? Most of our customers–hospitals, school districts, hotels, conference centers and businesses large and small were busy dealing with the crisis, and didn’t have time to think about their WiFi. So, we decided to help as many people as we could get their home WiFi ready to keep them working, learning, and connected as schools and businesses shut down.

Here at MetaGeek, we’ve been working remotely for a bit over a month now. It’s been a challenge, mostly because we enjoy each others’ company, but also because we’ve had to learn some new ways of getting work done. And we have learned, and we have gotten some SERIOUS work done over the past month.

We’ve released a handful of updates to inSSIDer, our beloved WiFi scanner, so it will show you a clear picture of the state of your network and what you might need to do to make your WiFi work better. We’ve beefed up our WiFi education resources, cranking out new articles and how-to videos and hosting training webinars. Yesterday, we released a major update to our flagship spectrum analysis application, Chanalyzer. And we’re not done. Next week we’ll release an update to Eye P.A., our industry-leading WiFi layer-2 visualization software, that dramatically improves performance. And we have updates to Air Viewer and a totally new dashboard for Rampart and snapshot improvements in MetaGeek Plus in the works.

Though we’ve found a way to stay productive through this crisis, and we recognize the importance of staying home to save lives, we cannot WAIT for things to get back to something more like normal! We realize that we’re pretty fortunate, too, because while it’s been difficult to be physically separated from our friends and colleagues, at least we’re still working. We know that for many in the WiFi industry, the shutdown of places and events where people gather together has completely taken away the opportunity to work and make a living. Times are tough, and money is tight, and we are all ready to get back to work. We don’t know exactly when that will be, but we want you to be ready when it happens. So, we’ve decided to take 50% off our professional-grade WiFi tools–hardware, software and services. This is a limited-time offer, so act now.

We hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe, healthy and connected through this crisis. We offer our deepest gratitude to those of you working to get us through this crisis in hospitals, warehouses and grocery stores. We have faith that through cooperation and innovation we–humans and businesses–can come through this stronger and more resilient than ever. Thank you for reading, and for your business, we’ll see you on the other side of this.
