Aqua-Fi sounds like science fiction but isn't

Scientists at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology are trying to bring wireless Internet underwater with a new prototype called Aqua-Fi. Currently, Aqua-Fi uses LEDs connected from one computer to send data to a light detector connected to another computer.

Sounds sort of like a version of Li-Fi?

@jainge good point! I think you are right, at this stage in the prototype Aqua-Fi is really Li-Fi since it is using light to transmit the data. It sounds like the end goal for Aqua-Fi will be to use radio waves to communicate but they have not achieved that yet.
