Hidden Network - None Created

Hi,
New user of inSSIDer v5.5.0.0 as such please bear with me.

I am running a Home/Business LAN/WLAN network using mainly devices from UniFi (Ubiquiti). Wireless service is provided by two UniFi U6-Mesh devices.

I don’t understand why inSSIDer is reporting hidden networks because only one wireless network has been created. Understand why four radios are shown as each AP got a 2.4 GHz radio and a 5 GHz radio. I do see that no clients are connected to any of the hidden networks.

The two APs are connected via CAT 6 and Mesh is not enabled.

What have I overlooked or what I don’t understand?

Hi @seh2000

These hidden SSIDs are broadcast by default by Mesh devices, even if you do not enable Mesh. TP-Link Mesh devices behave in the same way.

On certain specific firmware versions, it is sometimes possible to disable the Mesh SSID.

Hi,
Thanks!
Based on your answer I asked in the UniFi support community where I got the answer that both Wireless Meshing and UniFi Auto-Link should be off.
Turned the UniFi Auto-Link off and now it looks like the hidden networks are gone.
