I use an AMPED Dual band router and one Amped range extender (Access Point). The Router connects to my three computers by Ethernet cable to 2 and by WiFi to another. The Access Point is connected to my smart TV via an ethernet cable. The WiFi Analytics Tool shows 4 identical SSIDs for the private network I established using WAP2-Personal password security for the network… I don’t understand why 4 SSDs show up. Can anyone tell me why that happens? Is there one SSID for each computer and the TV?
Hi hhall2,
Can you send over a screenshot of this in inSSIDer so I can take a closer look?
In an ideal network, you should be seeing the same, shared SSID for each radio of your APs. Since boths APs are dual band, that means you have a 2.4 and 5 GHz radio on each AP (presumably) sharing the same SSID. Here are the four radios sharing the same SSID in your case:
- Amped router 2.4 GHz radio
- Amped router 5 GHz radio
- Extender 2.4 GHz radio
- Extender 5 GHz radio
If inSSIDer is listing these as separate SSIDs in the Networks view, let me know and we can take a closer look!
