Charter seeks FCC OK to impose data caps and charge fees to video services

“When contacted by Ars yesterday, Charter said it doesn’t ‘currently’ plan to impose data caps or change its interconnection policy, but it wants the option to do so”.

Charter currently can’t impose data caps or “interconnection fees” because of anti-trust conditions related to its 2016 acquisition of Time Warner Cable. The rules are set to expire in 2023, but Charter is asking that they expire two years early, in 2021, instead.
