Questions about Metageek App

Hi all,

I hope someone can help with some queries about Metageek App. There’s nothing new in the documentation about the rebranded C6.

  • Is it a perpetual license with yearly renewal for software updates?
  • Has anyone played with it on a Wifi 7 AP with the cool features, e.g. MLO? Does Metageek App accurately display a user with connection to different radios? I understand there aren’t that many Wifi 7 adapters out there.
  • With WLAN PI Go, can it be firmware upgraded so that it supports future Wifi standards, e.g. Wifi 8, and just change the wireless adapter? It will be expensive if WLAN PI Go only support up to Wifi 7 and have to replace it with another version of WLAN PI for future wireless standards.

Thanks.

Hi @simon.limkm,

Metacare

  • I just bought a Wifi 7 AP, i’ll test that ASAP.
I hope like you MetaGeek App is able to display a user connection to different radios.
May be @brian can answer to this question, it’ll be very usefull.

  • The Wlan PI Go use an Intel B2OO, this card support Wifi 7 in hardware.

You can have more information about Wlan PI Go with this link.

Hi @digtheweb

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it.

I was looking at the bundle which includes Metageek App and 3 x WLAN PI Go. I confessed I went over to T******* as ax and 6GHz just weren’t available on C6 despite the availability of Wifi-6e USB dongles. I missed the easy and appealing GUI of Metageek though.

Hopefully there will be more information on the WLAN PI Go in the WLAN Pro conference in Prague later this year. If Ekahau SideKick 2 can progress from supporting ax to be through firmware updates, then maybe it is the same for WLAN PI Go.

I look forward to your test result.

Cheers

Hi digtheweb

Just curious, do you have the WLAN PI Go? If yes, was the Metageek app able to run on more than one PI?

Regards

Hi @simon.limkm,

I don’t have a WlanPI Go, but I may put it on my Christmas gift list.

Before i need to buy a W11 to be able to use WiFi 7 and MLO.

Regards.
