Wireless connection

Hi all, with wireless devices, do the device’s signal need to reach the access point or just the access points signal?

TIA

Hello Martyn,

Great question! From what I understand, it’s important that both the AP and client device see each other to ensure all requested data is exchanged. For example, if a client device sends an RTS frame to an AP and the AP doesn’t respond with a CTS or ACK frame, the client will retransmit or retry the frame until the AP responds. Therefore the AP needs to be within the “signal” of the device’s antenna too.

Maybe someone else can chime in who knows a little bit more about this subject.
